Corrections policy
We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we fix it in the open.
How corrections work
- Appended and dated. A correction is added to the item with the date and a plain description of what was wrong and what it now says.
- Never silently overwritten. We do not quietly change a published fact, price, date or verdict. If it changes, the note says so.
- Price updates are dated too. Vendors change prices after we publish. When we update a price, we add a dated note with the old and new figure.
- Verdict changes are explained. If new facts change our verdict (try, ignore, cancel, ask your vendor or wait), the note says why.
- Typos and broken links are fixed without a note when they do not change the meaning.
How to report an error
Email beat@backofficebeat.com with the link and what is wrong. Include a source if you have one. A person reads every message, and we reply when we have checked it.
Who decides
The named editor on the item decides on the correction and writes the note. AI tools are not used to decide corrections.
