Back Office Beat is published by J9 Systems, Logan, Utah. This page explains what we collect, why, and how to get it removed. Last updated October 5, 2026.

What we collect when you subscribe

• Your email address. Required, so we can send the newsletter.
• Optional details: first name, company and trade. We use these to greet you and to understand which trades read us. You can leave them blank.
• Where you signed up, such as the page or a campaign link, so we know which pages bring readers in.

What we collect from the emails we send

Each email carries tracking that records whether it was opened and which links were clicked, per message and per subscriber. We use this to see which items are useful, to keep the list healthy, and to stop sending to addresses that never open. Most email apps let you block images, which stops open tracking.

What we collect on the website

The site uses Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to measure visits: pages viewed, time on page, rough location, device and browser. Clarity can record anonymised page interactions such as clicks and scrolling. We use this to fix pages and see what readers find useful. We do not sell this data.

Who handles it for us

• Postmark sends our emails and records opens, clicks, bounces and spam complaints.
• Vercel hosts the website.
• Supabase stores the subscriber list and the site's content.
• Google (Analytics 4) and Microsoft (Clarity) provide site analytics.

Each provider processes the data to run its service for us. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone, and we do not share the subscriber list with advertisers.

J9 Systems

J9 Systems publishes this site and can see the subscriber list. If you book a call with J9 through a link on this site, the booking happens on J9's site under J9's terms.

How to unsubscribe or delete your data

• Unsubscribe: use the link at the bottom of any email. It takes effect immediately.
• Change your preferences: use the "manage" link in any email.
• Delete your data: email beat@backofficebeat.com from the subscribed address and ask us to delete it. We remove your record within 30 days. We keep a suppression entry (your email address only) so we do not email you again by mistake.
