Zapier pricing in October 2026, and what Make and n8n cost for the same work at 2,000, 8,000 and 50,000 tasks

Zapier charges per action, Make per credit, n8n per workflow run. That one difference decides the bill. A cost table for a 10-to-50-person shop, from Zapier's $49 tier to its $399 one.

The short version

What happened

As of October 2026, Zapier's pricing page lists Professional from $19.99 a month for 750 tasks and Team from $69 a month for 2,000 tasks, both billed annually, with monthly billing about 50% higher. Make lists Core from $12 a month for 10,000 credits, and n8n Cloud lists Starter at €20 and Pro at €50 a month billed annually for 2,500 and 10,000 workflow executions.

What it means for a 10-to-50-person business

The three tools count different things. Zapier bills a task for each successful action. Make bills a credit for most module actions. n8n bills one execution per workflow run, however many steps it has. So a five-step workflow that runs 10,000 times is 50,000 Zapier tasks but 10,000 n8n executions. Take a 45-person HVAC and plumbing company in Salt Lake City running that volume. Zapier Team at 50,000 tasks is $399 a month billed annually, $4,788 a year. n8n Cloud Pro covers 10,000 executions for €50 a month billed annually. The catch is rebuild time and skills. Zapier is easier for an office manager to run. Switching makes sense when the yearly saving clearly beats 20 to 40 hours of rebuilding and testing.

The short version

  • Zapier charges for every action step. Make charges per credit, most actions 1 credit. n8n charges per workflow run, however many steps.
  • Below about $1,000 a year of Zapier, stay put. The rebuild time costs more than the saving.
  • Above a few thousand a year, especially with long multi-step workflows, price Make and n8n with your real numbers.

1. What it is

Zapier, Make and n8n all connect your apps: a form fill creates a customer, a paid invoice updates the job, a new hire gets added to payroll. We call these automations. They follow fixed rules. (Our explainer on agents versus automations covers where AI fits.)

The tools differ in three ways that matter to an owner:

  1. What they charge for. Zapier: tasks (each action). Make: credits (most actions). n8n: executions (each full run).
  2. Who can build in them. Zapier is the easiest for a non-technical office manager. Make is visual and a bit more technical. n8n is the most technical, especially self-hosted.
  3. Where they run. Zapier and Make are cloud only. n8n is cloud or on your own server.

2. Zapier's prices, as of October 2026

From Zapier's pricing page, billed annually (monthly billing in brackets):

Plan Tasks/month Annual billing, per month Monthly billing
Free 100 $0 $0
Professional 750 $19.99 $29.99
Professional 2,000 $49 $73.50
Professional 10,000 $129 $193.50
Professional 50,000 $289 $433.50
Team (25 users) 2,000 $69 $103.50
Team (25 users) 10,000 $169 $253.50
Team (25 users) 50,000 $399 $598.50

Professional is one user. Team adds up to 25 users, shared workflows and folders, shared app connections and SAML single sign-on. Zapier says annual billing is 33% off the monthly rate. Pay-per-task overage is listed at 1.25 times the base rate on annual plans and 2.5 times on monthly. Agents and Chatbots are separate add-ons.

3. Make and n8n, as of October 2026

Make lists Core at $12 a month, Pro at $21 and Teams at $38, each for 10,000 credits a month, with at least 15% off for annual billing. All plans allow unlimited users. Most actions use 1 credit; AI features can use more. Larger credit volumes are priced on a slider on the same page.

n8n lists Cloud Starter at €20 a month for 2,500 executions and Pro at €50 a month for 10,000 executions, both billed annually. It says all plans include unlimited users, unlimited workflows and every integration. The Business plan is €667 a month billed annually and is currently self-hosted only. The Community edition is free to self-host with no execution limits.

4. The cost table for a 10-to-50-person shop

Assume each workflow run has one trigger and five actions. In Make we count six credits per run, since the trigger module usually uses one too. In n8n, each run is one execution.

Workload Zapier Make n8n
A. 15-person cleaning company: 400 runs/mo = 2,000 tasks Pro $49/mo ($588/yr); Team $69/mo ($828/yr) 2,400 credits: Core 10k, $12/mo 400 executions: Cloud Starter €20/mo
B. 30-person HVAC shop: 1,600 runs/mo = 8,000 tasks Pro 10k $129/mo ($1,548/yr); Team 10k $169/mo ($2,028/yr) 9,600 credits: Core 10k $12/mo, or Teams 10k $38/mo 1,600 executions: Cloud Starter €20/mo
C. 45-person HVAC and plumbing company: 10,000 runs/mo = 50,000 tasks Pro 50k $289/mo ($3,468/yr); Team 50k $399/mo ($4,788/yr) 60,000 credits: above 10k, priced on Make's slider 10,000 executions: Cloud Pro €50/mo (€600/yr)

Zapier prices are annual billing. Make prices are the monthly figures shown on its page. n8n prices are annual billing in euros.

5. Reading the table

Workload A. Zapier costs $588 to $828 a year. Make or n8n might save roughly $350 to $700 a year. Rebuilding even five workflows takes 10 or more hours, plus the risk of a broken lead flow. Stay on Zapier unless you are rebuilding anyway.

Workload B. The gap widens to roughly $1,300 to $1,900 a year against Make or n8n. Worth pricing. Worth switching if someone in the office is comfortable with a more technical tool, or you have a contractor on call.

Workload C. This is where the counting method decides it. A 45-person company in Salt Lake City runs dispatch, invoicing and review requests through five-step workflows, 10,000 runs a month. Zapier Team is $4,788 a year. n8n Cloud Pro is €600 a year. Even with 40 hours of rebuild and testing and a few hours a month of upkeep, the saving is real by year two.

6. The costs the table does not show

  • Rebuild time. Budget 2 to 4 hours per workflow, including testing with real data.
  • Upkeep. Apps change their connections. Someone must notice and fix failures, on any platform.
  • Self-hosting n8n. The software is free. The server, backups, security updates and the person who handles them are not. Price those before you count n8n Community as $0.
  • Who builds it. If your office manager built every Zap and leaves next spring, the easiest tool to hand over may be worth the premium.

7. What to ignore

Ignore comparisons that count "number of integrations." What matters is whether the five apps you run are supported well. Check them by name. Ignore annual-plan pressure until you know your volume. A month on monthly billing tells you what you actually use.

8. What to do

  1. Export 90 days of Zapier task history. Note your top 10 Zaps by task count.
  2. Count steps per Zap. Long Zaps with many runs are where Make and n8n save money.
  3. Price your real volume on all three pricing pages.
  4. If the yearly saving is under the cost of 20 hours of your time, stay.
  5. If you switch, move one low-risk workflow first and run both side by side for two weeks.

Questions owners ask

How much does Zapier cost per month?

As of October 2026, Professional starts at $19.99 a month for 750 tasks billed annually ($29.99 monthly). Team, for up to 25 users, starts at $69 a month for 2,000 tasks billed annually ($103.50 monthly). Prices rise with task volume.

What counts as a task in Zapier?

Each successful action step in a Zap counts as a task. The trigger does not. A Zap with one trigger and four actions uses four tasks every time it runs.

Is Make cheaper than Zapier?

Usually, at the same volume. As of October 2026 Make lists Core at $12 a month for 10,000 credits, and most actions cost 1 credit. AI features can use more. Zapier's 10,000-task tier is $129 a month billed annually.

Is n8n free?

The Community edition is free to self-host with no execution limits, but you pay for the server and the time to maintain it. n8n Cloud starts at €20 a month billed annually for 2,500 executions.

Should a small business switch from Zapier to n8n?

Only if your bill is large, your workflows have many steps, and someone on staff or on contract can maintain n8n. For a few hundred dollars a year of Zapier, the switching time usually costs more than it saves.

What happens if I go over my Zapier task limit?

Zapier's pricing page lists pay-per-task overage at 1.25 times the base rate on annual plans and 2.5 times on monthly plans. Check the current terms in your account.
