1Password for Agents, out Oct. 22, lets AI agents sign in without seeing passwords
If staff already paste shared logins into ChatGPT or Claude agents to pull invoices or portal data, this is the first mainstream fix, but pricing and business controls are unannounced.
- What happened
On Oct. 22, 2026, 1Password announced 1Password for Agents, which lets an AI agent verify itself with a unique digital key and request a sign-in. The user approves on their own device, and 1Password fills the login without giving the password to the agent; named partners include Meta's Muse, Anthropic's Claude Duet, ChatGPT Work and dots, Grok Bot and Town.
- What it means for a 10-to-50-person business
Today, an AI agent that needs to log in to a supplier portal usually gets the password typed or pasted into it. Take a 15-person plumbing shop where the office manager has a ChatGPT agent pull weekly invoices from three supplier portals, about 2 hours a week of work. Each portal login sits in a chat history, often a shared login that half the office uses. With this feature, the agent asks, the office manager taps approve on her phone, and the password never leaves 1Password. The press release is framed around personal agents and gives no price, no business-plan details, and no word on whether admins can limit which vault items agents may request. Care if you use 1Password and staff already run agents against logins. If nobody in your office uses AI agents for logged-in work, ignore this for now.
- What to do
- Ask your vendor
If you pay for 1Password, email your account rep or support this month to ask whether 1Password for Agents is included in your business plan, what it costs, and whether admins can restrict which logins agents can request.

Questions owners ask
- Does the AI agent ever see the password?
According to 1Password, no. You approve the request on your own device and 1Password fills the login form. The agent continues the task after it is signed in.
- Which agents work with it?
1Password names Meta's Muse, Claude Duet, ChatGPT Work and dots, Grok Bot and Town. Browserbase, Browser Use, Perplexity, Ramp and others are listed as working on support.
- Is it part of 1Password business plans?
Not stated. The release gives no pricing or plan details, so ask 1Password before you change how staff give agents logins.
Three to five of these, every weekday morning.
