Zapier MCP now lets Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor share one server, at no extra cost
If your staff use more than one AI tool with Zapier, you can now manage their app access, rules and activity log in one place instead of several.
- What happened
On Oct. 20, 2026, Zapier said multiple AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor can now connect to a single Zapier MCP server and share its apps, actions, skills, mode settings and tool-call history, instead of each tool needing its own server. The feature is available now in Zapier MCP, which is included in every Zapier plan, and adding clients to a server requires Owner or Editor access.
- What it means for a 10-to-50-person business
This is a housekeeping fix, but a useful one. Take an 18-person accounting firm where the two partners use Claude and the admin staff use ChatGPT, each connected to QuickBooks, Gmail and Slack through Zapier MCP. Today that means two servers: two lists of allowed actions to maintain and two histories to check when someone asks what the AI did. On one shared server there is one action list and one log. In managed mode the owner picks exactly which actions each tool can run. For example, the AI can draft a Gmail reply but cannot touch QuickBooks. The owner can also lock the Slack channel so updates always post to #billing. There are two catches. Skills only work in agentic mode, so a managed server shares apps and actions but not skills. And a tool can sit on only one server at a time, so moving it switches it to the new server's mode. Firms with two or more Zapier MCP servers should care. Firms that don't use Zapier MCP, or use only one AI tool, can ignore this.
- What to do
- Try it
If you run two or more Zapier MCP servers, spend an hour this month at mcp.zapier.com picking one to keep, connecting your other AI tools to it from the Clients tab, and confirming the mode still suits every tool.
- What it costs
What it costs - Multi-client Zapier MCP servers
- $0 extra; included in every Zapier plan
- Consolidating 2–3 servers, admin time (assumption)
- 1–2 hrs (≈ $50–$100 at $50/hr)
- Reviewing allowed actions and locked fields in managed mode (assumption)
- 1 hr (≈ $50 at $50/hr)
- Doing nothing
- $0; old servers keep working, but you keep updating permissions and checking activity in each one separately

Questions owners ask
- Will moving a tool to a shared server break my existing setup?
Your old servers stay until you delete them, so you can move tools across gradually. A moved tool does switch to the shared server's mode, and if that is managed mode it loses access to skills.
- Does this cost more?
Zapier says Zapier MCP, including multi-client servers, is included in every Zapier plan. The source does not mention any new fee.
- Should every AI tool go on the same server?
No. Zapier says to leave a tool on its own server if it needs its own tools and skills, for example if one group should have broader access than the rest of the office.
Three to five of these, every weekday morning.
